Affiliation with The Thread Interfaith Seminary

As an ordaining body, The Thread Interfaith Seminary will hold the Assignment of Ministry for ordained Interfaith/Interspiritual ministers and recognize trained Interfaith/Interspiritual companions and counselors through Affiliation.  

Affiliates will receive 1. a Letter of Assignment that recognizes previous ordination (ministers) -or- a Letter of Good Standing that recognizes prior training (companions and counselors), 2. a Clergy Card (with your picture), 3. inclusion in an online directory (optional) of ordained Interfaith/Interspiritual ministers and spiritual companions and counselors, and 4. Access to discounted pricing for courses, events, and other Thread sponsored-activities. The documents are often required by local government offices for ministers to register to officiate marriages, though registration as an officiant is not required everywhere. 

Affiliated Ministers, Companions, and Counselors demonstrate their ongoing commitment and connection with The Thread Interfaith Seminary through: 

• Adhering to the Code of Ethics (provided as part of the application process)  

• Taking part in ongoing, relevant continuing education (as identified by the individual)

• Participating in service that is grounded in spiritual values and practice 

• Supporting The Thread through ongoing financial support and/or volunteer service  

Upholding the standards of The Thread Interfaith Seminary and meeting the requirements of Affiliation is referred to as ‘being in good standing’ with the organization, which can be affirmed with a Letter of Assignment as requested.
